Description

About Music, Sublimation, and the Body (September 11) Austin-San Antonio Psychoanalytic Society and Austin Society for Psychoanalytic Psychology present an evening which brings together classical music and psychoanalytic thinking. Beginning with a cello and piano recital, and proceeding to a lecture format, this presentation deals with the conceptualization of artistic sublimation as it appears in both Freud's work and Lacan's teaching, in order to elucidate similarities and differences among these two great thinkers. The Austin community has an opportunity to explore and discuss the subjective experience of musical enjoyment with Dr. Marcelo Zigaran, a classically trained cellist and avid student of psychoanalysis.
