‘WWE 2K15’ on PS4 and Xbox One to deliver more match psychology and tact

Wrestling games have always attempted to capture the fun and excitement of professional wrestling, but it’s never been easy for them to correctly emulate the pace of a match and the psychology exhibited by performers in and out of the ring.

This year’s “WWE 2K15” aims to be different by actually speaking to WWE stars and performers about how the matches actually work. More than facial scanning or new modes, the development team were concerned with what makes a match entertaining.

The end result 2K believes will make for a much more realistic wrestling sim.

“A lot of the new pacing in the game came from our desire to really build the most authentic video game possible,” “WWE 2K15” Executive Producer Mark Little told Examiner in an exclusive interview. “To do that, we look a lot at the broadcasts and pay-per-views to see how those guys perform in matches and how they tell stories in matches. We spent a lot of time with a lot of wrestlers talking about what they call ring psychology. That means, how do you create drama over the course of the match? How do matches progress? Why do they do certain things at certain times? We wanted to bring that sort of thought and experience to our new-gen gameplay experience. We’ve created this more fluid and dynamic pacing of a match where you go from a faster, back-and-forth beginning part, to a more meaty part, to the dramatic ending of a match.”

“WWE 2K15” is set for a Nov. 18 release on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in North America and Nov. 21 internationally.
