Ty Willingham is coaching again for the Stanford Cardinal, just not for the football team.
In a notebook from Notre Dame's 20-13 overtime victory against Stanford, the South Bend Tribune included an interesting nugget regarding the whereabouts of the now-retired head coach.
Former Notre Dame head football coach and Stanford head football coach Tyrone Willingham has retired from football — but not from coaching.
He is currently a volunteer assistant coach for the Stanford women's golf team, and reportedly is a specialist at helping the golfers with the psychology of the game.
Willingham retired from coaching in 2010, but his last season on the sidelines was in 2008 with Washington. [I'm sorry, Washington fans, if I just undid years of therapy to keep that year blocked.] He returns to Stanford, the school where he arguably experienced the most longevity and success -- bringing a conference title to Palo Alto in 1999.
