Wellesley Free Library to host behavioral finance seminar

The Wellesley Free Library will hold a behavioral finance seminar on Thursday, Sept. 13, in the main branch’s Wakelin Room.  Dr. Paul Powers, psychologist and internationally published author, will share his findings as to how you can use psychological savvy to achieve your personal financial and life goals.

Behavioral science is an emerging field in making investment strategies.  Intellectually we all know that financial decisions affect every aspect of our lives and should be made on a rational basis.  But behavioral science shows us that is frequently not true.

A licensed psychologist, Powers holds a doctorate in psychology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He is a Marine Corps veteran with an earlier career in the mental health field.  The former chairman of the Massachusetts Board of Psychologists, Powers' work has been noted in such media as The Wall Street Journal, The National Business Employment Weekly, The Boston Globe, The Boston Herald, Executive Strategies, The New England Business Magazine, CNN, CNBC, National  Public Radio.

As a popular speaker and seminar leader, Powers travels extensively sharing his wisdom, his humor and his deepest belief that each of us has a gift to be discovered, developed and shared.  He is author of "Winning Job Interviews" and co-author of "Love Your Job! Loving the Job You Have, Finding a Job You Love."

The program will take place in the main library’s Wakelin Room from 7-8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 13.  This free event is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Wellesley Free Libraries.  No registration required.  For more information on upcoming WFL programs and events, visit www.wellesleyfreelibrary.org.
