WISE — The University of Virginia's College at Wise has announced it will offer a bachelor's degree in psychology via a cohort program at the college's Abingdon campus beginning with the fall term.
Classes will be held at the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center in Abingdon and online.
The psychology degree cohort program is designed to prepare students for employment in the areas of human resources, social work and education. Coursework will provide the necessary background for graduate work in the field as well.
The psychology cohort curriculum, designed to be completed within five or six semesters, is for students who have completed an associates of arts and science degree at a two year community college. The program is part of efforts by UVa-Wise to offer a degree program that is convenient for non-traditional students.
Students in the cohort program study together for the duration of the program. Schedules for the cohort's coursework have been established and a typical course load will consist of four courses per semester.
Financial aid is available for qualifying students. Fall classes begin in August. For more information contact Courtney Conner, site director for the UVa-Wise Abingdon campus at 276-619-4317, or visit www.swcenter.edu/uvawise.
