Kenneth Sewell has been appointed vice president for research and economic development at the University of New Orleans.
Sewell currently is vice president for research and economic development at the University of North Texas in Denton.
He will oversee research and economic development activities at UNO, including the UNO Research and Technology Park.
As chief research officer for North Texas, Sewell was responsible for promoting research, scholarship and artistic creativity.
He holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from Kansas State University and a master's degree and doctorate in psychology from the University of Kansas.
The announcement was made by UNO President Peter Fos.
The appointment requires approval of the University of Louisiana System board.
