The Clearing SPC, a new organization in the recovery and rehab industry, today announced the grand opening of its new holistic residential treatment center on San Juan Island, WA. The Clearing specializes in the treatment of anxiety, depression, traumatic life events, substance abuse and other addictive behaviors, eating disorders, and other conditions, including dual diagnosis. Unique in the industry, participants join in a group for an immersive 28-day residential rehab program on a 64-acre working farm. The first session begins September 2nd, 2013.

“We were all too familiar, from personal experience, with the rehab industry and its weaknesses. We observed that the success rates were very low. More troubling, we knew many stories of people going to rehab and not experiencing a substantial program, coming out of treatment without the help they needed,” said Joe Koelzer, co-founder and CEO. “We started with a blank piece of paper and focused on creating a program that would provide the best opportunity for participants to heal the underlying core issues that were limiting their lives. There is literally not another program like this in the country.”

Co-founders Joe Koelzer, Dr. Scott Alpert, and Betsy Koelzer took an entirely different approach vs. traditional residential treatment programs – one centered on Spiritual Psychology, which enables participants to identify, address, and heal issues at their core. The Clearing is a 12-steps alternative program.

“In traditional treatment and counseling, conventional psychological techniques are used, and are helpful,” said Dr. Scott Alpert, co-founder and Director of Clinical Operations at The Clearing. “We add a spiritual dimension; patients become profoundly liberated with this type of healing, and it’s a remarkable transformation.” Dr. Alpert has counseled over 8,000 patients over the course of his career.

The Clearing focuses on post-detox healing and transformation. Participants enter and leave as a group, receiving 120 hours of uniquely personal individual counseling during the program. Alternative therapies such as acupuncture, massage, nutritional counseling, yoga, and animal therapy are also included. Private rooms and baths are provided to all participants, also unique in the industry. Sessions take place in a restored 109 year-old farmhouse on a 64-acre working farm on beautiful San Juan Island, WA, about 75 miles and a ferry ride away from Seattle.
