Man found with serious stab injuries in Handsworth

A 22-year-old Criminal Psychology student is due to appear in court today accused of stabbing a teenager.

Josh Welch from Heathfield Road in Handsworth allegedly attacked the 17-year-old man's head and back with a kitchen knife in the early hours of Thursday morning, as the pair walked together to a local shop.

Welch is originally from Wolverhampton and is studying at Birmingham City University.

He will appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court.

A 17-year-old is in hospital in a critical but stable condition.
