Name: Alison McHugh
Year: North Attleborough High School class of 2014
Sports: Volleyball, basketball, tennis.
Achievements: Captain of both volleyball and basketball teams.
What college would you like to attend after graduation?:
“I would like to attend a mid-larger university with a core curriculum and great study abroad and community service programs. I’m not set on my major, but I am leaning towards something involving applied research, possibly in the psychology field and also education. I love learning about why things happen, not just given the facts.”
What is your favorite memory from sports?:
“When my doubles partner and I beat Barnstable in the Individual State Tournament to advance to the semifinals. It was the farthest anyone in the history of North Attleborough High School had ever advanced. It made for an amazing and memorable season. My doubles partner and I were 40 – 0 in the past two regular seasons and 50 – 3 overall.”
What did you learn from athletics?:
“I learned the value of hard work, while being humble and striving to be as good as the leaders I have looked up to. Being a captain came naturally to me because I learned a lot from the captains last year and their great example. I learned that good sportsmanship will reward you in the end, and that you are nothing without your team. It taught me to embrace any challenge that may come my way, and shaped me into the person I am today.”
