Wondercon 2013 opened Friday with a debate that has undoubtedly caused plenty of arguments throughout the geek universe before: "Star Wars" vs. "Star Trek."

Four experts, including two psychologists, debated four specific topics analyzing the respective strengths and weaknesses of "Star Wars" and "Star Trek," including 'Nature vs. Nurture,' 'Strength and Resilience,' 'Artificial Intelligence' and 'The Test.'

To someone with little knowledge of either franchise, there might seem to be little difference between the two, but the psychology behind the subjects brought new light to an argument that captivated the crowd at Wondercon. Just maybe not for as many Trekkies, as NYU clinical psychologist Dr. Ali Mattu said.

"Well, first of all, there are not as many Trekkies here because they are all at work today," Mattu said.
