Stanton Recognized as Influential Organizational Psychologist

Professor and senior associate dean Jeffrey Stanton was recognized as a top influential organizational psychologist on a list curated by Human Resources MBA, a website and resource guide to researching degree programs in human resources and related fields.

Stanton is ranked eighth on the list of the 30 most influential industrial and organizational psychologists, who were selected based on criteria that included their publication history, impact on industrial and organizational practices, influence on the future of research in the field, and awards and recognitions achieved.

Within the context of organizational psychology, Stanton's focus includes personnel assessment systems, employee surveys, coaching, and institutional change processes. From 2004 to 2011, he served as action editor for the journal Human Resource Management, and from 2003 to 2013, he served on the editorial board of Organizational Research Methods, the premier methodological journal in the field of management.

Stanton's published research includes topics in job satisfaction, work-related stress, psychometrics, and statistics with a focus on self report techniques. He has conducted numerous research projects that have applied the principles of behavioral science and organizational research towards understanding the interactions of people and technology in institutional contexts.

In 2012 Stanton published Information Nation, a book about diversity, education, and careers in the information professions. In 2006, he published The Visible Employee, a book on the behavioral aspects of information security.

At the iSchool, Stanton developed and taught Syracuse University's first MOOC, An Introduction to Data Science, in 2013. This semester, he is teaching a course on statistical methods in information studies.
