Samford Psychology is a client-centred practice located in a Queenslander-style cottage set in a peaceful garden environment at the Lifestyle Centre.
The practice is owned by Dr Natalie Shockley, a Clinical Psychologist specialising in trauma-related presentations, including PTSD and dissociative disorders.
Drawn to the location because of its tranquil setting, Natalie says the Lifestyle Centre “provides an ideal place where people can wander around, before or after sessions to reflect”.
“I’ve been in private practice for many years but never really wanted my own practice until I found this location,” she said.
The practice opened in October 2012, initially as a one day per week solo practitioner service.
It now operates as a five-day practice servicing a broad community, with referrals coming from local areas and further afield.
Since opening Samford Psychology, Natalie has found that people are willing to travel over an hour to see a clinician who feels right for them.
Samford Psychology has recently welcomed clinically trained psychologists Di Hempenstall and Nikki Jermyn, both compassionate, experienced therapists interested in trauma-related presentations.
Referrals are accepted for children, adolescents, adults and couples experiencing a range of difficulties, includ-ing anxiety, depression, trauma, addictions and eating disorders.
A sliding fee scale/bulk-billing is available to clients with financial difficulties.
Samford Psychology is at the Lifestyle Centre, 225 Mt Glorious Road, Samford Valley.
