The first group of volunteers to provide psychological services for people affected by the 7.0-magnitude earthquake in Ya'an City in southwest China's Sichuan Province, recruited by the Sichuan Women's Federation, arrived in the earthquake-stricken area on May 8, 2013.
The 25 volunteers come from Chengdu, Mianyang, Guangyuan, Suining, Nanchong, Dazhou and other places in Sichuan. Most are doctors, teachers and women's workers who have received professional training and had experience of providing psychological services in these situations. The volunteers' services will be available in for residents in five counties affected by the quake.
