Linda Lehmann, a licensed psychologist with expertise in grief and loss, will be the featured speaker at a bereavement informational meeting from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Sept. 11 in the Northfield Hospital Conference Center.
Lehmann’s talk, “How Grief Can Transform Our Lives,” will serve as a prelude to an optional six-week grief support group offered by Northfield Hospice. Both events are free and open to the public, according to a release from the hospital.
Lehmann has worked in the grief, loss and trauma arenas for more than 20 years. She received her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from St. Mary’s University. Previously, she founded the Center for Grief, Loss and Transition, and more recently was the Bereavement Coordinator at Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota. She has also been in private practice and an employee assistance counselor since 2000.
A frequent trainer and speaker around topics related to grief, loss, trauma and chronic illness, Lehmann co-authored Mourning Child and Teens Together grief support curricula, which were published in 2001. One CEU will be available for the session. People can register that evening for their credit.
The six-week bereavement group will be facilitated by a Northfield Hospice social worker. It is scheduled from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 18 in the chapel at the hospital and then will meet every Wednesday through October 23. For more information, call 507-646-1037.
The presentation is sponsored by Northfield Hospice and the Northfield Grief Support Coalition.
