HIGH POINT, N.C., Feb. 5, 2016 – High Point University assistant professor of psychology, Dr. Sadie Leder Elder, was recently invited to give a talk titled, “It was the Best of Times, It was the Worst of Times; Successfully Navigating Life as an Early Career Psychologist” at the teaching pre-conference of the 17th annual Society for Personality and Social Psychology (SPSP) Conference in San Diego.
“This conference is one that I attend annually,” says Elder. “It was a privilege and an honor to be asked to share my experience with others dedicated to the art of teaching.”
Elder has extensive experience within the teaching of psychology field. She won two national teaching awards, one in 2010 and another in 2014. She has also authored and edited many publications on teaching including peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, and eBooks. Additionally, Elder regularly presents at local, state and national teaching conferences.
“One of the most important contributions that I believe I will make in my life is being an educator,” says Elder. “Being able to share what I have learned with other teachers helps me to achieve that goal.”
Elder has served the larger teaching community through participation in the Society for the Teaching of Psychology’s national Early Career Psychology Committee from 2011 – 2014. She has also worked with various teaching and learning centers in the United States, including the Center for Faculty Excellence at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
