Our Opinion: Psychology board can't edit advice columnists

The Kentucky Board of Examiners of Psychology obviously has no authority or expertise in the field of newspapers, but it is attempting to censor a columnist who writes parenting advice for more than 200 newspapers nationwide.

John Rosemond, who is licensed to practice family psychology in North Carolina, recently received a cease-and-desist order from the state attorney general’s office in its role as legal adviser to the psychology board. This reportedly started because a retired psychologist in Kentucky read one of Rosemond’s columns in the Lexington Herald-Leader newspaper and thought poorly of his advice. Rosemond has an old-school approach to parenting. He has his fans and his detractors. Most advice columnists do.
