Several new laws that made it through the 2013 General Assembly will take effect Tuesday, including one, Senate Bill 72, that sets up mandatory ongoing suicide prevention training — at least once every six years — for social workers, psychologists and occupational therapists and others who counsel individuals.
Psychologist Mike Flaherty, chairman of the Owensboro Regional Suicide Prevention Coalition, said the new law is good, but he wishes the required training was every three years.
