In a move that has surprised many, Rupert Murdoch has announced a new venture that aims to replace the current Sun newspaper team with an emerging tabloid written exclusively by the under-5 age group.

The move is said to be fuelled by a discovery in a reading age analysis study from the University of Manchester, published in the British Journal of Educational Psychology towards the end of 2011.

The study confirmed that the average issue of The Sun features roughly 60% basic, 39% intermediate and 1% advanced language.

Since then, Murdoch has been assessing the potential for replacing his crack team of high-cost hacks with freelance contributions from young hopefuls, competing for their places at top primary schools across the UK.

In a leaked guest editorial for the first edition, Murdoch describes the new paper as "business as usual on a budget" for previous readers of The Sun.
