Air Force Capt. Katrina D. Powell has begun work at the Clinical Psychology Ph.D. program at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md. The four-year graduate program focuses on training military and civilian candidates to practice in clinical and operational military settings.
Powell was only one of two Air Force-wide selectees this year. Upon completion, she will become a clinical psychologist in the Air Force.
She is the daughter of Jessie Mae Powell and the late Earl Fields Sr. of the Big Estate community.
She is a 2002 graduate of Battery Creek High School. She received a psychology and English degree in 2006 from the Virginia Military Institute, Lexington, Va., a masters in English in 2010 from California State University, Bakersfield, Calif., and a masters in psychology from Arizona State University, Tempe, Ariz.
