The clinical PsyD program at Yeshiva University’s Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology had one of the highest match rates of similar programs in the United States over a four-year period, according to a recent report on doctoral program match rates by the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers.
The report is one of the factors that potential graduate students weigh when deciding where to pursue their doctoral degree.
With a match rate of 93 percent and an average class size of 25 students a year, the clinical PsyD program rates are higher than the national average for all doctoral programs and “comparable to even much smaller PhD programs,” according to Dr. Jamie Schumpf, Director of Externship and Internship training at Ferkauf.
“The fact that our graduates are selected at top internships demonstrates that we have a top-notch program and draw excellent candidates. We train stellar clinicians who receive varied and intensive clinical training, but are also well-versed consumers and producers of research,” he said.
“Given that the national average for other applied doctoral programs is 74 percent, I am very proud of our program at Ferkauf,” said Ferkauf Dean Lawrence J. Siegel. “This high match rate is a reflection of our excellent faculty and graduate students.”
