Students Named to the dean’s list at New Haven

The following students were named to the dean’s list at the University of New Haven for the spring 2013 semester. Full-time undergraduate students must have a 3.50 or better cumulative GPA for the semester to be eligible for the dean’s list.

Residents Named to Siena College President’s List

The following local residents have been named to Siena College’s president’s list for the spring 2013 semester.

Maria Rocco, an undeclared science major from Oneida and Carlie Roman, a psychology major from Chittenango.

To be named to the president’s list, a student’s GPA for the semester must be 3.9 or higher; 263 students were included on the list for the spring 2013 semester.

Chittenango’s Endres to Receive Scholarship

Alyssa Endres of Chittenango has been awarded Siena College’s Faculty Memorial Scholarship for the 2013-14 school year. The scholarship is given in memory of former Siena College Professor of Physics Leonard Merrill, Ph.D.

Endres, a graduate of Chittenango High School, is a senior physics major at Siena.

The Faculty Memorial Scholarship is given primarily on the basis of academic merit and its recipients represent some of the best students at Siena.

Residents Graduate from Cazenovia College

Cazenovia College honored the class of 2013 May 18; the following local students were among those receiving degrees:

Kiley A. Barr of Cazenovia earned a bachelor of fine arts degree magna cum laude in visual communications with a minor in history. Barr is a member of Alpha Lambda Delta, the National Honor Society for first-year students.

Courtney A. Drake of Canastota earned a bachelor of arts degree in liberal studies.

Calyn J. Fisher of Hubbardsville earned a bachelor of professional studies degree in management, specializing in sport management. Fisher received an award for Outstanding Senior Capstone in management.

Katherine L. Gilbert of Munnsville earned a bachelor of science degree in human services, specializing as a generalist.

Erica L. Group of Chittenango earned a bachelor of fine arts degree cum laude in interior design.

Revanna S. Hogan of Oneida earned a bachelor of science degree magna cum laude in psychology. Hogan is a member of Psi Chi – The International Honor Society in Psychology.

Stephanie A. Joyce of Earlville earned a bachelor of fine arts degree magna cum laude in studio art, specializing in photography.

Melissa A. Schleifer of Munnsville earned a bachelor of fine arts degree cum laude in studio art, specializing in studio art.

Stefanie R. Sterling of Hubbardsville earned a bachelor of fine arts degree in visual communications.

Andrew S. Symonds of Earlville earned a bachelor of fine arts degree in visual communications, specializing in visual communications.

Students Named to Cazenovia College dean’s list

Cazenovia College recently released names of students honored for academic achievement during the spring semester of 2013. Thecollege is home to about 1,000 degree-seeking students; those named to the dean’s list have achieved a 3.5 or better grade point average for all courses attempted, and have earned 12 or more academic credits during the semester.

Students receive Binghamton University Foundation Award

The following students have recently received a Binghamton University Foundation Award:

Melissa R. Wiehenstroer of Chittenango has received a Keith Nintzel Award for Excellence and Commitment in German Studies, an award presented to German majors who have excelled and demonstrated a commitment through service.

John A Maine of Waterville has received a Emilio Roma III Memorial Award for Philsophy of Law, an award presented to a freshman for academic excellence and extraordinary service rendered to the Philosophy, Politics and Law program during the academic year.

Students Make Dean’s List at SUNY Buffalo State

The following local students were named to the spring 2013 dean’s list at SUNY Buffalo State. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher and complete a minimum of 12 credit hours.

Alison Mish of Canastota and Donald Reifschneider of Oneida were among those recognized.

Gianforte Earns Spring 2013 Dean’s List Honors at Roger Williams University

Piper Gianforte of Cazenovia has been named to the spring 2013 dean’s list at Roger Williams University in Bristol, R.I. Gianforte is a media communication major. Full-time students who complete 12 or more credits per semester and earn a GPA of 3.4 or higher are placed on the dean’s list that semester.Graduation cap green

Students Graduate from Hartwick College

The following area students have graduated from Hartwick College: Sean Carpenter of Chittenango, son of Wayne and Stacey Carpenter, graduated from Hartwick College on May 25, 2013. Carpenter majored in music education.

Students Named to Hartwick College dean’s list

The following area students have been named to the spring term dean’s list at Hartwick: Hartwick College senior Sean Carpenter of Chittenango, son of Wayne and Stacey Carpenter. Carpenter is majoring in music education; and Hartwick College sophmore Taylor Jaquays of Waterville, son of Janine Jaquays. Jaquays is majoring in political science and economics.

Inclusion on Hartwick’s dean list is an indication of excellent academic work, including the completion of a full course load with at least a 3.5 grade point average based on a 4.0 scale.

Elmira College Celebrates 158th Commencement

Elmira College held its 158th Comencement on Sunday, June 2nd at the First Arena, in Elmira.

Dillon Damuth of Oriskany Falls earned a bachelor of arts degree in biology; Kara Maison of Canastota earned a bachelor of science degree in speech and hearing; Bethanie Paddock of DeRuyter earned a bachelor of science degree in psychology; and Olivia Spadafora of Oneida earned a bachelor of arts degree in psychology.

Meigs Named to Cortland dean’s list

(Georgetown) Ryan Meigs of Route 80, Georgetown, was named June 6 to the SUNY Cortland dean’s list. Meigs, an adolescent education and history major, is a graduate of Otselic Valley Central School. He is the son of Dennis and Mary Meigs.

Perkins Graduates from University of Rhode Island

At the University of Rhode Island’s 127th Commencement Saturday and Sunday, May 18 and 19, more than 3,200 undergraduate and 770 graduate students became the University’s newest alumni.

Among them was Matthew D. Perkins of Kirkville, who received a BA in Spanish and a BS in ocean engineering magna cum laude.

Students who received the honor summa cum laude graduated with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.7; students who received the honor of magna cum laude graduated with a GPA of at least 3.50; and students who received the honor of cum laude graduated with a GPA of at least 3.3.

McPeak of Chittenango Named to Scranton Dean’s List

Erin McPeak of Chittenango has been named to the dean’s list at The University of Scranton, which recognizes students for academic excellence during the 2013 spring semester. A student must have a grade point average of 3.5 or better with a minimum number of credit hours to make the dean’s list.

The list includes students from the Jesuit university’s College of Arts and Sciences, the Kania School of Management, the Panuska College of Professional Studies and the College of Graduate and Continuing Education. More than 1,490 students were named to the 2013 spring semester dean’s list.

McPeak is a senior with a human resources studies major in Scranton’s Panuska College of Professional Studies.

Students Named to Dean’s List at Delaware

Several local students have been named to the University of Delaware’s dean’s list for spring 2013. Those students include Morgan Charde of Chittenango and Lauren Muraco of Cazenovia.

To meet eligibility requirements for the dean’s list, a student must be enrolled full-time and earn a GPA of 3.33 or above for the semester.

Locals to Receive ‘Best and Brightest’ Award

Local residents were among 59 SUNY Oneonta undergraduate students honored as recipients of the college’s 2012-2013 Best and Brightest awards at the college’s annual Students of Distinction reception on May 8. Among them were Scott Burlison, a professional accounting major from Sherburne and Megan Record, a chemistry major from Earlville.

The awards recognize students who demonstrate outstanding academic engagement, co-curricular engagement, and service to the college and/or local community. Students are nominated for the awards each semester by faculty and staff.

Warthen Graduates from McDaniel College

Kelsey Rose Warthen of Bridgeport graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree in social work during the 143rd commencement May 25 at McDaniel College. More than 370 bachelor’s degrees were awarded during the ceremony. Academic honors given at graduation include summa cum laude for a cumulative grade point average of 3.9 or higher.

Warthen also was named to the McDaniel College spring 2013 dean’s list with highest honors. Highest honors are earned for a semester grade point average of 3.90 or higher.

Wilkes University Announces Spring 2013 Dean’s List

Wilkes University Interim Provost Terese Wignot recently announced the dean’s list for the spring 2013 semester. To be named to the dean’s list, students must obtain a minimum 3.4 GPA and carry at least 12 credits.

Among those recognized was Ryan Burdick of Madison.

Students Graduate from Wells College

Local students earned diplomas as part of the Wells College Class of 2013:

Paige Stone of Madison earned a bachelor’s degree from Wells College. Paige majored in psychology with a minor in sociology. She was a student-athlete with the basketball, soccer and softball teams and earned the Lesley Wead Zabriskie Express Award for softball as well as the John D. Wilson-Ralph H. Poole Jr. Award.

Jesi Unger of Earlville earned a bachelor’s degree from Wells College. Jesi majored in biochemistry and molecular biology, graduating cum laude.

The ceremony took place on the shore of Lake Cayuga, on the lawn of the Aurora Inn on May 18. The Commencement address was given by Margaret A. Pericak-Vance ’73, pioneer in the field of genetics and head of the University of Miami’s John P. Hussman Institute for Human Genomics. Eighty-two Wells students earned their diplomas this year, as part of the College’s 145th Commencement ceremonies.

Isabelle of Oneida, Earns Dean’s List Honors at Nazareth

Nazareth College is proud to announce that of Kaitlin Isabelle of Oneida was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2013 semester. Isabelle is a sophomore majoring in Spanish and inclusive education; she spent the spring semester studying abroad in Valencia, Spain.

A student’s grade point average must be at least 3.5 or above and they must complete 12 credit hours of graded work that semester in order to be included on the dean’s list at Nazareth.
