According to a recent study by the University of Scranton’s Journal of Clinical Psychology, the most common resolutions for 2013 include: Losing weight, getting organized, traveling more, and falling in love. Although the following products won’t help you find your soul mate, they can at least keep you organized while you try to stick to your goals past January.
Resolution #1 – Lose weight: Withings Smart Body Analyzer
Price: Coming Soon
Where to buy: Withings.com
There are some gimmicky scales that groan or say “ouch” every time you step on them, but the new Withings Smart Body Analyzer scale will actually give you useful feedback. Features include WiFi capabilities that syncs your weight measurements, heart rate, BMI, and body fat readings to an app on your smartphone. The scale even watches over you while you’re sleeping. It’s also embedded with an air-quality monitoring system, which notifies you when to get better air circulating.
Resolution #2 - Travel more: Pivothead video recording sunglasses
Price: US$299.99
Where to buy: Pivothead.com and Sunglass Hut retailers
Tired of lugging around cumbersome cameras on sunny vacations? Pivothead sunglasses, the hi-tech shades showcased at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), instantly capture high definition 1080p video and take 8mp pictures, using 8GB of memory. You can then wirelessly share photos and music to most of your WiFi enabled mobile devices. Best of all, the sunglasses are designed with Rx Prescription lenses so you’re tanning in style.
Resolution #3 - Fall in love: Portrait Projection Ring
Price: Negotiable with artist
Where to buy: Lukejerram.com
Artist and designer Luke Jerram has upped the ante for romance with his specially designed Portrait Projection Ring. The ring looks like a regular wedding band, except it can project a series of portraits. The ring was inspired by 19th Century Stanhopes - miniature
microphotographic lenses - and was created for Jerram’s own wedding.
Resolution #4 – Get organized: Windows Phone 8S HTC from Virgin Mobile
Price: $279.99
Where to buy: Virginmobile.ca
Social lives (and balancing them) needs their own resolutions. The Windows Phone 8S from Virgin Mobile will help you with that. The touchscreen phone features Windows’ new Live Tiles - a digital dashboard of sorts that gives you access to everything of improtance: Emails, Facebook, Twitter, music, surfing, news, To Do lists, and calendars. The phone’s 4 GB of internal storage and 1 GHz dual-core processor stores loads of information. The only drawback? Fun diversions such as Xbox Music and Xbox Games - making it too tempting for procrastinators to stick to their plans.
