BERKELEY, Calif.—A bicyclist who died in a crash in Berkeley has been identified as a noted Israeli psychology professor.
Police Sgt. Mary Kusmiss says 65-year-old Shlomo Bentin was wearing a helmet when his bicycle collided with a vehicle on Friday but it was shattered in the accident.
Bentin taught psychology and education at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in Israel. Colleagues said he frequently visited the University of California, Berkeley to lecture and conduct research on how the brain works.
He is survived by his wife, three children and seven grandchildren.
