Bringing up children is not an easy task especially when we speak about large families. The Internet enables parents of many children perform many of their daily tasks even without leaving their apartments.
Parents of many children form communities in social networks or log in to special websites, where they discuss recent changes in the Russian law, social benefits and many other things, which are relevant for them. Like many other users of the Internet they are interested both in communication and learning new things, psychologists and writer Sergey Klutchnikov says:
"In the Internet parents can learn a lot about children’s psychology, health, childcare, opportunities for education and recreation."
The Internet also provides busy parents an excellent opportunity to use many services without leaving their apartments, a IT-expert Mikhail Zonenashvili continues:
"It helps to perform numerous daily routine tasks typical for large families. For example they ship via the internet because when they have to stay with their children all the time and cannot leave their apartments."
The “Voice of Russia” interviewed Eugenia Shestakova, the mother of three sons who also brought up three sons from her husband’s first marriage. Now they are all grown ups and live in different cities of Russia but Zhenya often contacts them in social networks.
A year ago a terrible tragedy came to Eugenya’s house when her cousin burnt alive in a fire. She lived with her two little children in a small town the Kaluga, south from Moscow. The wiring of the old house was not in order which caused a fire. Her two children escaped death by a miracle. Zhenya took two orphans to her house. She asked a friend to post her request fro help on livejournal.com. At that time the younger of the two children was not even 1 year old:
"Many people in Russia responded to my cry for help. We also received financial and moral support from Japan, Germany, Ukraine and Belarus."
Without the Internet and its multi-million army of users Eugenia and her family could never receive such a colossal support. “The tragedy showed that there are many warm-hearted people on the Internet. I don’t know many of thethem by name but in my heart I will always be grateful to them for their efforts. Personally, I also try pay attention to all requests for help and I will never refuse to help”, Eugenia concludes. People continued to transfer money to the account, which number was published in the Internet, for quiet a long time. Some of them contacted Eugenia to hand money to her. A year after that tragedy, Eugenia continues to thank Internet users for their help and support.
