Hope hosts student sport and exercise psychology symposium, Feb. 15-16

Student researchers and faculty from throughout the region will be attending the 23rd annual Midwest Sport and Exercise Psychology Symposium, hosted by Hope College Feb. 15-16.

The event highlights student work in the field in an open forum with opportunities for critical feedback and discussion.

The symposium showcases the work of upcoming scholars in a one-room setting that allows for open dialogue to occur between students and faculty. Organized by students, and directed this year by Hope juniors Meredith Aja of Traverse City and Sutton Williams of West Olive, the annual event rotates among several colleges and universities.

In addition to the student research, the symposium will include keynote presentations by Dr. Eddie O’Connor, clinical sport psychologist at the Performance Excellence Center of Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital in Grand Rapids; Dr. Scott VanderStoep, dean for the social sciences and a professor of psychology at Hope; and Dr. Kirk Brumels, associate professor of kinesiology and program director of athletic training education at Hope.
