Health psychology and sport psychology on the radio

The fourth broadcast in the Psychology FM series, which looks at health psychology and sport and exercise psychology, will go out at 11am on Wednesday 19 March.

These programmes, which are produced with the help of one of our public engagement grants, are being broadcast by the Manchester community radio station ALL FM.

Professor Rebecca Lawthom and PhD student Michael Richards have created the programmes. They chart the evolution of psychology while shedding light on its modern incarnations. The shows also aim to change people’s perceptions of men with disabilities as the presenters will all have learning difficulties.

Professor Lawthom said: “We want to explain what, exactly, psychology is and how and what we mean about the different branches of psychology – educational psychology, forensic psychology, neuropsychology and so on.

“The aim is to get people who aren’t familiar with psychology to find out a little bit more about it, to make it accessible and to make it relevant.”
