PEARLAND, Texas – Dr. Gordon L. Paul was born on Sept. 2, 1935, and passed away on Tuesday (April 15, 2014).

He is survived by his wife of 59-plus years, Joan M. Paul; children, Dennis and wife Georgia, Dana and wife Nora and Joni Fredrickson and husband Larry; grandchildren, Alexandra, Joseph, Gordon II, Drew, Sara and Lonni; and great-grandson, Gyianny.

Dr. Paul was a Cullen Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Psychology after 31 years at the University of Houston. He had a distinguished professional career and influenced many during his lifetime, changing the face of clinical psychology forever with his innovative treatment programs. He was a Navy veteran.

A celebration of his life was held Saturday at his home at 3402 Parkside Drive, Pearland, Texas.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, the family will establish a scholarship in his honor. South Park Funeral Home in Pearland is in charge of arrangements.
