Golden jubilee celebrations begin at GCU

THE golden jubilee celebrations of Government College University (GCU) Dr Ajmal Psychological Society have begun at the university.

 

A GCU spokesperson said these week-long celebrations included seminar on psychology, lecturers by eminent psychologists, poster exhibition and various competitions that aimed to celebrate the life and work of the late Dr Muhammad Ajmal, the former principal of Government College Lahore and founder of psychology in Pakistan. GCU Vice Chancellor Prof (Meritorious) Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman inaugurated the celebrations at a graceful ceremony at Psychology Department. Faculty of Science Dean Prof Dr Islam Ullah Khan and Psychology Department Chairman Dr Asir Ajmal were also present. The vice chancellor highlighted the intricate relationship between psychology and religion, and said that it was psychologists’ duty to help propagate wisdom in society. Dr Asir Ajmal also spoke on the occasion. Later, the celebrations began with the Qirat Competition in which the first position was secured by Qari Rehmat Ullah, second position was a tie between Muhammad Sajjad Hafiz and Muhammad Raza, while Hamza Muhtaar secured the third position.
