ONGOING FINANCIAL WOES at several levels in Barbados are leading to psychological problems for many people.
Worry over meeting car payments, mortgage debts and other financial commitments is causing “psychological trauma” for many households, said president of the Barbados Society of Psychology, Michael Campbell.
Speaking yesterday at the launch of the society’s week of activities at St Matthias Anglican Church, Campbell warned, however, that improving finances alone would not repair all the damage.
“We can’t wave a magic wand and change the economic climate in the country, but anything we can do to help families or communities come up with solutions to problems is likely to have positive effects way outside of just having money to make a car payment,” he said.
