UNIVERSITY PARK | In a special presentation, Governors State University will host Rony Berger, clinical psychologist, family and child therapist, and internationally recognized expert in dealing with the psychological preparation for and the aftermath of terrorism and other major disasters.
Berger will discuss “Fostering Psychological Healing in the Aftermath of Terrorism and Other Major Disasters,” from 5 to 6 p.m. Oct. 15 in Sherman Hall. The event will also include a screening of the trailer for the film, “10-Percent: What Makes A Hero? – A Documentary,” which focuses on Berger’s collaborative research with Stanford professor Philip Zimbardo. The film, currently in production, is being directed by Yoav Shamir and produced by Michael Moore.
Berger is on the faculty of Emergency Medicine at Ben Gurion University, as well as on the faculty of the Stress, Crisis and Trauma program at Tel Aviv University. He serves as a Fellow of Psychology beyond Borders; a humanitarian organization that aims to alleviate the psychological suffering in the aftermath of traumatic events.
