CAREER MOVE: Associate at McQuarrie Hunter LLP

NEW JOB: Associate at McQuarrie Hunter LLP

EMPLOYER: McQuarrie Hunter LLP

OLD JOB: Self-employed graphic/web designer

QUOTE: "There is the law, and then there's life." It's a great reminder of the balancing that has to take place when I'm advising clients.

READING: Graphic novels, latest one being Maus.

WORST FEAR: When I was in university it used to be finding out there's an exam, on the day of the exam! Now it's more like making a mistake I can't fix, or being asked a question by a judge you should know the answer to but don't.

GADGETS: Couldn't get by without my iPhone.

EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS: At UBC I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology, and postgraduate degree in Law. Prior to that I attended a private college and received a Web Masters Diploma.

FIRST JOB: Artona.

ORIGINAL ASPIRATION: I set out to be a psychologist; a close friend inspired me to pursue law and I'm still very grateful for that.

ROLE MODEL: You take the best from everyone you know. My partner is definitely someone I look up to. From a practice perspective, there are a few lawyers at my firm I try to emulate.

NUMBER OF E-MAILS A DAY: 30 to 50.

NUMBER OF VOICEMAILS A DAY: I keep these to a minimum.

SOCIAL NETWORKING? Facebook and LinkedIn.

NUMBER OF FACEBOOK FRIENDS: Enough for me to waive my reasonable expectation of privacy.

ESSENTIAL WEBSITE: Legal sites CanLii and CLE BC.

BEST PERK: The occasional free coffee at Starbucks. Was that also a play on the word 'perk'? I also have the pleasure of working with some amazing colleagues and that has to be the best perk considering I spend a considerable amount of time at work.

SPORTS/HOBBIES: Jogging.

LAST CONFERENCE: CLE BC's "Time Mastery for Lawyers" at UBC Robson Square.

CAREER OBJECTIVE: My short-term objective is to learn as much as I can and become a great lawyer and advocate. I had an opportunity to spend some time with some amazing judges while in my last year of law school. That may be something I may want to pursue as an ultimate long-term objective.
