Auckland researchers say people are less stressed if they have good posture.
University of Auckland scientists studied people in a slumped or upright position and found the way participants sat affected their emotions, the Mail Online reports.
The study found people who sat upright with straight shoulders coped better emotionally with a stressful task than people who were hunched over.
Better posture meant people felt more enthusiastic and strong than their slumped colleagues, the study, published in the journal Health Psychology, found. And people with better posture appeared to have higher self-esteem and less fear.
The participants did not know what they were being assessed for.
