The personality psychology of Theodore Millon, part 3

Posted in EN
The personality psychologist Theodore Millon strove to articulate a comprehensive personality measurement system, distinguishing between functional and structural domains. The functional domains consist o expressive acts, interpersonal conduct, cognitive style and regulatory mechanisms. The structural domains consist solely of objective representations, self-image, morphologic organization and mood/temperament. These domains are similarly organized under specific categories. The behavioral level consists of the functional domains o expressive acts and interpersonal conduct. The phenomenological >>>

Prince Yemisi Shyllon:By Yemisi Shyllon. I want to share some interesting statistics of life with you. The normal expected life span of man, if one is lucky, is 70 years. This amounts to only 25,568 days. If one lives up to 80years, it would total 29,220 days on earth. For the few lucky ones that may live up to 90 years, they will only live up to 32,873 days on earth. Even those who live over 100 years, will never make 50,000 days on earth. This reminds us of the existential futility in our relentless and endless search for life’s successes and accumulation of wealth without giving and >>>

After extremists strike, there are notable behavioral and psychological changes among both victims and observers of terrorist actions. PHOTOS: Terror Plots That Failed: >>>

When veterans are worried or stressed about acclimating to everyday life, they may just need a pen and paper to feel better, according to a new study, published last month in the Journal of Traumatic Stress. The research suggested that writing about their return home helps veterans manage anger and psychological distress, echoing earlier work on the mental health benefits of personal writing. Nearly 1,300 veterans, all of whom had reported difficulty reintegrating into civilian life, participated in the study. Researchers divided them into three groups: the first received no treatment; the second >>>

Not so happy old age? Depressive symptoms increase with age

Posted in EN
The notion that older people are happier than younger people is being challenged following a recent study led by a University of Bradford lecturer. In fact it suggests that people get more depressed from age 65 onwards. The study, led by psychology lecturer Dr Helena Chui and recently published in the international journal Psychology and Aging, builds on a 15-year project observing over 2,000 older Australians living in the Adelaide area. Previous studies have shown an increase in depressive symptoms with age but only until the age of 85. This is the first study to examine the issue beyond that >>>
