Textbook takes a comical approach to censorship

Academics typically love the English language, but they may not always be keen to using the dirtier words. In a passage of the textbook Psychology: Themes and Variations about the oh-so-important hypothalamus gland, author Wayne Weiten highlights the major roles of the gland using the term the "four Fs." You can’t win that Facebook fight

Earlier this year, I was on Facebook quietly minding my own business/reviewing my profile pics when I came across a particularly long comment thread. Within seconds, a craft fair became a craft war. The next morning, I woke up to a comment thread (approaching 400 comments!) accusing the OP of deleting her "way >>>

America is an incredibly Freudian culture that doesn’t believe in Freud

Freud has an unquestionably powerful impact on American culture. Turn on the TV and Joan from “Mad Men” is suffering from “hysteria,” and Brian from Family Guy is trying to uncover whether urinating on the floor is an act of subconscious aggression. Or, there’s Tony Soprano’s psychoanalysis sessions: Films and books are also cluttered with Freudian references. Jonathan Franzen’s latest book “Purity” portrays “mother and father figures with shades of the Oedipal and the Electral,” according to an Esquire review. Similar Oedipal themes have been noticed in Francis Ford >>>
