When Steve Hershfield was looking for a fun way to blog last year, he never expected companies would be sending him clothing for his friends to model and review on his website, stateofproper.com.

But last Sunday, the MSU alumnus found himself at the Red Cedar River with his friends, modeling T-shirts from Gulf Shore.

“It is a nice day out, and we thought, let’s just go around and take pictures in the clothing,” he said.

Hershfield said when the blog first started, he wrote about a new topic each day, such as cool drinks students could make at home, movie quotes or new trends.

But then, as he mentioned companies and cool deals on his site, companies began to give him discounts and send him clothing.

Hershfield said he originally saw his website as more of a hobby and did not foresee it becoming so big.

“I just do it for fun,” he said.
