Katie Akins, a four-year member of the Mansfield University women's basketball program from 2005-09, has been named the assistant women's basketball coach.
The announcement was made today by head coach Alison Tagliaferri. An Elmira native, Akins also served as an assistant coach with the Elmira Lady Express AAU basketball team.
More recently, Akins worked as a family-based mental health professional at Northern Tier Counseling in Towanda.
