Franklin College
Franklin College’s chapter of the international honor society of psychology, Psi Chi, inducted five new members March 15, including Erin Moll, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Moll, Batesville.
Psi Chi, founded in 1927, is an international society that recognizes academic achievement and promotes creative development for students studying psychology.
Franklin College established its Psi Chi chapter in 2010.
The chapter helps provide funding for students to attend the annual Midwestern Psychology Association Conference held in Chicago. The group also participates in at least one community service project each year.
Inducted students become lifelong members. Eligible students must have declared a major or minor in psychology, be a second semester sophomore, have completed nine credit hours in psychology courses, have a 3.0 grade-point average and be in the top 35 percent of the class.
Ivy Tech Community College
Thirty-three students from Ivy Tech Community College campuses across the state were named to this year’s All-Indiana Academic Team for Community and Junior Colleges, including Pasqual Yung, West Harrison. The academic competition, which scores students on academic honors, activities including leadership and work experience, and an essay, is sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa, an international honor society for two-year colleges, USA TODAY, and the American Association of Community Colleges.
University of Dayton
Elle Riehle, West Harrison, was among the more than 1,800 University of Dayton students receiving degrees during 2015 spring undergraduate commencement ceremonies May 3.
She received her degree along with actor Martin Sheen, whom the university presented with an honorary doctor of humane letters degree for his lifelong commitment to peace, social justice and human rights exemplifying the Catholic, Marianist university’s mission.
Allyson Ritter, Batesville, presented “Hungry for History (Worldwide Edition): A Podcast” during the University of Dayton’s 26th annual Brother Joseph W. Stander Symposium.
The symposium recognizes and celebrates academic excellence in undergraduate and graduate education, providing an opportunity for students from all disciplines to showcase their intellectual and artistic accomplishments.
Purdue College of Technology
Daniel Narwold, Batesville, has earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering technology from the Purdue College of Technology, Columbus. He is among 21 who completed programs during the 2014-15 academic year. The graduation ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. May 13 at the Columbus Learning Center.
