Students at the Skegness Academy are celebrating success after receiving results for A-level or equivalent courses of study.

This is the fifth consecutive year in which students have maintained a perfect 100 per cent pass rate for A-level or equivalent.

Performance in vocational qualifications is particularly high with 94 per cent achieving grade C or above in vocational equivalents of A-levels which is well above the national post-16 results for 2014.

Whilst all the students have done remarkably well, there are some that have particular cause to celebrate:

Olivia Brookes who has attained three grade C’s in English, film and media as well as a distinction in subsidiary diploma art and design.

Vlad Brebeanu who has attained a grade AAB at AS level in mathematics, further mathematics and statistics.

Kirsten Medland who has attained a grade B in sociology, a grade C in psychology, a distinction* in subsidiary diploma sport and a distinction* in subsidiary diploma law.

Kirsten was sharing a joint celebration with her twin Holly after completing their sixth form courses.

The pair, from Alford, both studied A level psychology together and supported each other with their revision.

Kirsten said: “We helped each other and revised together so knew what we were both doing. We are competitive, but supportive of each other too.”

Holly will be starting a business and sport degree at university in Leeds and Kirsten has been offered a place at Portsmouth University to study psychology and criminology.

This year, more students than ever have applied to continue their education at university with many securing unconditional offers.

best for their future.”

The Skegness Academy is one of the 27 Academies sponsored by the Greenwood Dale Foundation Trust (GDFT). chief executive of the GDFT, Sir Barry Day, OBE, said: “Once again we are proud of the success of the pupils at the Skegness Academy and wish them all the best as they continue their education or enter employment.”
